Bainter Biofuel Production System
- Are you disgusted with hostile foreign countries control of the world oil supply?
- Would you like to do your part for energy independence?
- Are you tired of paying high prices for fuel?
- Are you interested in producing your own fuel?
If you said yes to any of the proceeding statements then the Bainter Biofuel Production System is what you want.
We share your sentiments, and we decided to do something about it. 0ver the past several years we have developed a convenient system ideal for on-farm usage. The Bainter Biofuel Production System is a compact and simple system that can be easily set up in a garage, barn, or shed. The system is designed to run with minimal supervision for days at a time, thereby allowing you to make your own fuel while going about your normal daily business. We designed our fuel production system with the idea of using locally grown commodities as the oil source. Crops suitable for fuel production include Sunflowers, Canola, Cottonseed and Soybeans. The fuel processor can also be used to reprocess used cooking oil into usable fuel.
If you are processing Crops into fuel the first stage of the system is the oil press. Presses can be bought in varying sizes, the size we most often sell is the 3-4 Ton Screw Press, a good medium sized press suitable for most applications. Note: the operation of an oil press is very much an art and not a science; it will take an operator a period of time to learn the correct speed and screw settings for various crops and the moisture percentages thereof. Once you have achieved a good understanding of your press’s operation you will be able to let it run for days at a time, allowing good oil production runs.
The Oil press has two outputs, Oil and meal. The oil is collected from the side of the press and after traveling though settlement tanks the oil is pumped to storage tanks for later additional processing. The meal produced by the press is carried away from the rear of the press by a conveyer belt. Our custom designed conveyers are designed to carry the meal from the press in a tank, hopper or truck. If you have livestock, the meal can be fed to them: It is high quality feed source, and in our experience animals love the taste of it. In many areas Co-ops, elevators, or feedlots will buy the meal you produce, so if you do not have cattle of your own you should look for buyers. The meal is one of the keys to success; it must be used or sold. If it is only wasted or given away the process will not be financially viable.
We produce and sell automatic feeding systems to assist in these long production runs. As you can see in the adjacent diagram the simplest method of getting the feedstock to the press is by auger. You will need to run the auger at a very slow speed so as to prevent overfeeding and jamming the press. We have produced a hydraulically powered system that allows the speed of the input auger to be precisely controlled so that the feedstock input can be set at exactly the optimal level. This Hydraulic system also powers the conveyer belt that removed the meal.
Our oil press can be powered either by a diesel motor or by an electric motor; both power sources have their advantages and disadvantages, so depending on your circumstances it will vary which option is best for you.
The Fuel processor system is the second half of the system. This processor system will work equally well with new oil you have pressed or with used cooking oil. The main function of the processing system is to remove debris of the oil that would plug up fuel filters and injectors. This processing system will turn raw oil into a biofuel suitable for use in any standard diesel motors. This fuel will be usable by your diesel motor with no alterations necessary.
There are two main components in the processing system, a filter and a centrifuge. The filter housing holds standard bag type filters that must be changed as needed. We use 1 micron filters inside the filter housing. The Centrifuge used with the processing system is a custom designed piece of equipment specifically designed for high flow rates and longer running times between cleaning. The centrifuge consists of a 8'; diameter element that spins inside a 10'; diameter housing. The interior component rotates at 4000 rpm and separates out the last of the impurities in the oil that the 1 micron filter has missed. These impurities stick to the inside of the spinning element and they should be cleaned out as needed (typically once a day). In addition to these two main components there are also a transfer pump, and storage tanks in this system. The pump and centrifuge are powered by electric motors.
Once the Oil has been cleaned by the filter and the centrifuge the only step remaining is to blend in additives. Once this is done the fuel is ready to use.
